On the eve of the “Big 3” for high school track and field, the Kenai Peninsula Borough Championships, the Region III Championships and the ASAA Alaska State Championships; the Soldotna girls and boys earned the team titles at the Kenai Invitational Track and Field Meet in an eight-team field on Saturday at KCHS.
Kenai Invitational: Girls Results
The Soldotna girls totaled 159 points for first place, followed by Kenai with 100 points.
The Soldotna girls raced to victories in three relays; 4X100M, 4X200M, 4X800M. SoHi’s Britany Taylor won the 400M in 1:03.61, Itu Tuisaula threw 39’8″ to win the shot put; and Danica Schmidt cleared 4’11” for the high jump victory.
Multiple event winners for the Kardinals included: Hayley Maw: 100M (13.02) and 200M (27:22) and Savanna Wilson: 100M hurdles (16.36) and 300M hurdles (50.43).
Kaitlyn Johnson recorded Nikiski’s lone first place with a win in the discus at 107′.
Kenai Invitational: Boys Results
The Soldotna boys totaled 180 points for first place, followed by Grace Christian with 97 points.
The SoHi boys won two relays, the 4X100M and 4X800M relays. Ben Booth sprinted to wins i the 100M (11.69) and the 200M (24.24). Tyler Morrison earned two individual wins in the jumping events with a 5’8″ high jump and an 18’10.75″ long jump. Corbin Wirz completed the SoHi sweep of the jumps with a 36’2″ triple jump.
The Kardinals Jarett Wilson raced to victories in both the 110M hurdles (16.88) and the 300M hurdles (44.20). Maison Dunham won the 1600M run.
The Kenai Peninsula Borough Track and Field Championships are scheduled for Saturday, May 11 at Homer High School.
