SoHi vs Kenai basketball–Same teams, same result!
The Soldotna Stars hosted the Kenai Kardinals on Tuesday, a rematch of last Saturday and the first games in a full basketball schedule for SoHi, Kenai and Nikiski to close the regular season.
SoHi Girls 44 – Kenai 28
The Soldotna girls opened an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter and held a 21-13 lead at the half, on their way to a 44-28 non-conference victory over the Kenai Kardinal girls. Itu Tuisaula lead the Stars with 18 points and Brittani Blossom poured in 15 for the Stars. Jaycie Calvert, with four, three-point baskets, lead Kenai with 12 points.
SoHi Boys 51 – Kenai 34
Round two of the SoHi vs Kenai boys match-up was remarkably familiar to Saturday’s first pairing with the Stars and Kardinals playing a tight contest until SoHi pulls away in the fourth quarter. The game was tied 13-13 after one quarter and SoHi held a three-point advantage at the half 22-19. SoHi lead 33-27 after three quarters and then, as they did Saturday, pulled away in the fourth quarter on an 18-7 run for the 51-34 victory. Jersey Truesdell scored 24 points for the Stars; Adam Trujillo lead Kenai with 12 points.
Upcoming Schedule
SoHi finishes the regular season with two non-conference games including Nikiski on Thursday and Homer on Saturday. Following Tuesday’s game, Kenai travels to Anchorage for two Southcentral Conference contests against Anchorage Christian School and Grace Christian. Nikiski closes the regular season on Friday hosting Homer in SSC action.
