The first change to the week three football schedule, facilitated by travel concerns due to the Swan Lake fire, results in a change of opponents for the Nikiski Bulldogs on Friday night at Nikiski High School.
The Nikiski Bulldogs will host the Homer Mariners on Friday, a scheduling change involving Nikiski, Homer, Valdez and Monroe football programs
Due to travel concerns, the Valdez Buccaneers will not travel to Nikiski; the Homer Mariners also will not travel to Monroe in Fairbanks. The two peninsula teams Nikiski and Homer will battle on Friday at Nikiski High School with the junior varsity scheduled for 4 p.m. and the varsity scheduled for 7 p.m. (side note: sunset on Friday is listed as 9:16 p.m. and Nikiski has no lights at the field).
Nikiski and Homer have a scheduled, conference game on the original schedule for September 28th in Homer.
