The cross country running season for central peninsula high schools opened on Monday with the 2019 Nikiski Class Races, an annual event featuring races in the freshman-sophomore and junior-senior, girls and boys divisions.
The Soldotna Stars raced to team titles in the freshman-sophomore girls, junior-senior girls and junior-senior boys. The Kenai Kardinals won the team title in the freshman-sophomore boys class race.
Individual class race winners included:
Freshman-Sophomore Girls: Logan Satathite, Kenai
Freshman-Sophomore Boys: Joe Hamilton, Kenai
Junior-Senior Girls: Erika Arthur, SoHi
Junior-Senior Boys: Bradley Walters, SoHi
Bradley Walters, SoHi, posted the fastest time of the event with a 17:53 in the junior-senior race. Logan Satathite recorded a 22:28 for the fastest girls time of the event.
