Kenai Volleyball Earns State Spot; Nikiski Needs Wins In Saturday’s SCC Tournament

The Southcentral Conference Volleyball Tournament, hosted at Seward High School, moves into championship Saturday with the Kenai Kardinals and Homer Mariners in the title game set for 2:30 p.m.

 

The Nikiski Bulldogs, the #1 seed from the South, suffered a three-game loss to Homer. Nikiski needs to win two games Saturday-finish third in the tournament-and hope for an at-large berth to the ASAA 3A state volleyball tournament.

 

Kenai defeated Anchorage Christian School in the semi-final on Friday 25-11, 25-10 and 25-20.  Bethany Morris lead the Kardinals with 13 kills.

Other Friday scores:

Nikiski over Houston 25-13, 25-20 and 25-14; Homer downed Redington 25-5, 26-24 and 25-19; Kenai over Grace 25-13, 25-18 and 25-15; ACS defeated Seward 27-29, 25-19, 25-17 and 25-14.

 

Saturday Tournament Schedule

Seward vs. Nikiski, 9 a.m.

ACS vs. Redington, 10:30 a.m.

Game 9 winner vs. Game 10 winner, 1 p.m. (3rd place)

Kenai vs. Homer, 2:30 p.m. (championship)
