The 2019 Kenai Peninsula Open Golf Championships and in the women’s division the Alaska State Womens Amateur opened competition on Saturday at the Birch Ridge Golf Course with the first of two rounds on the Soldotna course. Second round play is scheduled for Sunday, August 25th.
Open Division .
Aaron Dexheimer, golf professional who grew up on the Birch Ridge Course, leads the Open Division with a first-round, 3-under par score of 67. Beau Forrest, of Kenai, posted a 2-under 68 and stands a shot back of Dexheimer. Eight professionals are battling in the Open Division.
Mens Division
Nolan Rose, of Soldotna, leads the Mens Division with a first round 76; Rose holds a one stroke lead over Kenai’s Eddie Sibolboro (77). Thirty-three golfers are competing in the Mens Division.
Womens Division
The Womens Division doubles as the 2019 Alaska State Womens Amateur and Halycon Swisher posted an 82 in the first round for a 12-stroke lead over Rita Geller (94).
