COVID-19 relief is coming to students of Kenai Peninsula College experiencing financial difficulties.
Support is now available on a limited basis. Prompt submission of applications for assistance is strongly encouraged, according to Student Services Director for Kenai Peninsula College, Julie Cotterell, “KPB applied for CARES Grant money for the City of Soldotna and the City of Homer to provide emergency relief to our students. We have two scholarship applications out there for students to apply to. They have to be either a resident of Soldotna or a resident of Homer, taking classes this semester enrolled in at least 6 credits and be admitted to or have a pending application to a UAA degree program.”
Cotterell said that the students can apply for a $500 emergency fund, “They have to explain what their hardship is for COVID relief and we’re trying to get them all spent by the end of the year so we have a quick deadline coming up on the 18th. We’re hoping that we can provide some relief for our student who are experiencing hardship during this pandemic.”
