The Kenai Peninsula Borough has launched their Housing Relief Program, alongside the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation. Applications went live on Thursday, October 22, at 1:30 p.m.

On October 13, the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly approved $2 million from the borough’s CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Fund to provide individual housing assistance for mortgage and rent relief. The borough is partnering with Alaska Housing Financing Corporation to provide the financial assistance to qualified borough residents in areas outside of the cities who are experiencing economic hardship due to the public health emergency.

Applicants must reside in the Kenai Peninsula Borough, outside the city limits of Homer, Kachemak City, Kenai, Seldovia, Seward, and Soldotna. Qualified applicants will be eligible to receive up to $1,200 for the months of September, October, November and December of this year. Payments will go directly to the lender or landlord, not to the applicant.

Applicants can visit https://cares.kpb.us/ or they may call the Borough’s Grant Division at (907) 714-2153. Also, they can e-mail [email protected] for information.
