Peninsula Conference and non-conference soccer filled Thursday’s schedule as teams battle through the end of the regular season and build resumes’ for the upcoming conference tournaments and for seeding to the soccer state tournaments.
Thursday Game Results
Kenai Boys 1 – Homer 0
Tomas Levi-Canedo scored a last minute goal to push the Kardinals past the homer Mariners in Peninsula Conference soccer. Kenai improves to 6-0-1 in its final conference pairing. The Mariners, 3-2-1 in conference, play SoHi on Saturday.
Kenai Girls 0 – Homer 1
Homers Laura Inama scored the game’s lone goal in the first half; both teams played scoreless soccer for the second half and Homer downs Kenai 1-0. The Kardinal girls close conference play with a 4-1-2 record. Homer stands at 4-1-2 with a conference showdown on Saturday against SoHi.
Nikiski Girls 9 – Voznesenka 0
The Bulldogs record a 9-0 shut out of Voznesenka lead by two-goal efforts by Tika Zimmerman, America Jefferies and Rylee Ellis. Tawnisha Freeman, Lillian Carstens and Kiki Suporate added single goals. The Nikiski girls and boys host Houston on Friday and Redington on Saturday.
SoHi Girls 2 – Thunder Mountain 1
The SoHi girls scored a pair of first half goals, one for Journey Miller and one for Rhys Cannava, and held-off Thunder Mountain for a 2-1 non-conference soccer victory. SoHi closes the regular season on Saturday at home against Homer.
SoHi Boys 0 – Thunder Mountain 5
The depleted SoHi boys varsity team fell 5-0 to Thunder Mountain in non-conference soccer. The SoHi boys face Homer in Peninsula Conference soccer on Saturday with seeding for the conference tournament on the line.
