Kardinals Overpower Seward In Conference Soccer: Nikiski Drops Pair

In-spite-of the cold and blustery conditions on Tuesday at Ed Hollier Field at KCHS, the Kenai Kardinals heated up the offense in both the girls and boys varsity games to overpower Seward in Peninsula Conference soccer action.

The Kardinal girls improve to 2-0-2 and the Kenai boys move to 3-0-1 in the Peninsula Conference.

 

The Nikiski Bulldogs fell to Homer 9-0 in the girls varsity game and 5-1 in the boys varsity contest in Homer.

 

Kenai Girls 11 – Seward 0

The Kenai girls recorded a month’s worth of offense in 80 minutes recording 11 goals against the Seward Seahawks on Senior Day at KCHS.

The Kardinal girls scored eight, unanswered goals in the first half and added three goals in the second half.  Alyssa Bucho, Olivia Brewer, Karley Harden and Damaris Severson scored two goals apiece. Jolie Peterkin, Taylor Pierce and Alissa Maw added single goals.

Kenai Boys 7 – Seward 1

The Seward boys opened the scoring and the Kardinals took control from there in a 7-1 Peninsula Conference victory for Kenai.  Following a Colin Mullaly goal for Seward in the game’s seventh minute, the Kenai offense scored seven-straight, unanswered goals.

Senior Tomas Levy-Canedo scored the Kardinals first and last goals on the Kenai boys’ Senior Night. Single goals were recorded by Koa Diorec, Leif Lofquist, Nate Beiser, Travis Verkuilen and Garmen Minarriz.

 

Nikiski Girls 0 – Homer 9

The Bulldog girls were held scoreless in Homer as the Mariners recorded a 9-0 shutout in Peninsula Conference action.  Laura Inana lead the Mariners with a three-goal, hat trick.

Nikiski Boys 1 – Homer 5

Isaiah Gray netted the Bulldogs only goal in a 5-1 loss to Homer.  Gray scored on a penalty kick.   The Nikiski girls drop to 0-3-0 in conference play and the Bulldog boys stand at 0-3-0 in the Peninsula Conference.
