Three Peninsula Conference victories in the final four games of the regular season for the Nikiski Bulldogs locked-up a trip to Barrow for the Division III football playoffs; Nikiski dominating the Seward Seahawks on Homecoming Friday with a 42-12 Senior Day victory.
Michael Mysing recorded four, first half rushing touchdowns (and added the PAT for each) as Nikiski lead 28-0 at the half. Sam Berry scored a rushing touchdown in the third quarter and Michael Eiter intercepted a pass and returned 20-yard for the Bulldogs final score. Changes in the line-up (linemen playing running back), rest for the seniors on offense, clock management and a running clock in the fourth quarter equaled a 42-12 final score. The Seahawks recorded two, late touchdowns.
Nikiski’s defense generated five turnovers-three fumbles and two interceptions, a blocked punt, and forced Seaward out on downs three times. Nikiski will need to clean up their turnovers for a playoff run; the Bulldogs surrendered two fumbles and an interception on Friday.
