Brown Bears Open Home Stand In Battle For Division Lead

Alaskan teams top the standings in the Midwest Division of the North American Hockey League entering November with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and Kenai River Brown Bears standing in first and second in the division standings.  The Brown Bears open a 12-game, five weekend, home stand at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex with a pair of games against early-season division leader Chippewa Steel beginning Friday, November 8th.

 

The Kenai River Brown Bears look to build on a two-game sweep of the Northeast Generals.  Kenai River downed the Generals 4-3 and 5-3 at the New England Sports Village closing the Brown Bears road trip with a 2-2 record.

 

Midwest Division Standings: As of November 6th

Fairbanks Ice Dogs  11-4-0-1  23 points

November 8th & 9th:  Kenai River vs Chippewa Steel at Soldotna Regional Sports Complex  7:30 p.m.

 

Midwest Division Star of the Week: Theo Thrun, forward, Kenai River Brown Bears

Theo Thrun, Brown Bears leading scorer, recorded three goals in the Brown Bears games against the Northwest Generals including the game-winning goals in both games.  Thrun leds the Brown Bears with 20 points including nine goals and eleven assists.
