Alaska Loses Legendary Hall of Fame Coach Chuck White

Chuck White, Alaska’s winningest and most-influential basketball coach, passed on Monday, November 25th from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.  Coach White was 78-years-old and living in Colorado.

 

Chuck White served as a head basketball coach for 45 years, 41 of those on the courts in Anchorage with 34 years at East Anchorage High School and seven years at West Anchorage High School.

 

Chuck White, in his tenure in Alaska, amassed 18 state championships in boys basketball: 14 at East High and four at West High.  White collected 921 victories (all but 70 in Alaska)  and a win percentage of 80% including 29, 20-win seasons.

 

Chuck White was inducted into the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame in 2011 and inducted into the ASAA High School Hall of Fame in 2013.
