Alaska’s U.S. Congressman Don Young is now the most senior Republican in the U.S. House, after his Floridian colleague Bill Young passed away on Friday.
Rep. Don Young is now fourth in overall seniority, behind Michigan’s Democratic John Dingell and John Conyers, and New York’s Charlie Rangel.
Rep. Young(R-AK): “I’ve been your voice, and I’ve done a good job for this state for the 40-years, and expect to do it for another 10-years.”
Young has previously stated he’d like to beat the all-time record: Dingell’s 58 years and counting.
He’s also Alaska’s longest-serving member of Congress, beating the late former Senator Ted Steven’s record last March.
