Wrestling, Hockey and Skiing Fill Weekend Schedule

Conference championships, invitational tournaments, and head-to-head competition in high school wrestling, hockey, volleyball and cross country skiing fills the schedule for Friday and Saturday, December 2nd and 3rd.

Kenai & SoHi Hockey Hosts Valley Teams

The Soldotna and Kenai high school hockey teams hosted the teams from the valley in a three-day, six-game series at the Soldotna Sports Center.

D/K Conference Wrestling and North-South Tournament Highlight Wrestling Schedule

The Denali/Kachemak Wrestling Tournament, a qualifying tournament to the 1A,2A,3A state wrestling championships, will be contested at Seward High School on Friday and Saturday, December 2nd and 3rd.

Nikiski and Skyview will represent the central peninsula, the Panthers competing in the 3A division after the ASAA reclassified small school wrestling to include Skyview, Homer and Houston.

Wrestling at the Denali/Kachemak Wrestling Tournament begins at 9:00 a.m. on both days. The top five wrestlers in each weight class advance to the 1A,2A,3A ASAA State Wrsting Championships, which will be hosted at Nikiski High School on December 9th and 10th.

Soldotna and Kenai High School will travel to Wasilla High for the annual North/South Wrestling Tournament on Friday and Saturday, December 2nd and 3rd. SoHi and Kenai continue to wrestle in the large school division and will continue into February leading to the ASAA 4A Wrestling Championships.

Homer Invitational Cross Country Skiing Schedule

The Homer Invitational opens the high school cross country skiing season with competition on Friday and Saturday at Lookout Mountain.

Friday Dec. 2nd- 3km Classic Race

Classic- Individual Start Course: 3 km loop

Boys Varsity start- 1:00 (3 km); Girls Varsity start- 1:30 (3 km)

Saturday Dec. 3rd- 5km Skate Race

Skate- Mass Start Course: 5 km loop Varsity

Girls Varsity start- 11:00 (5 km); Boys Varsity start- 11:45 (5 km)
