State troopers say that an Alaska Wildlife Trooper was injured in an ATV accident just after midnight on Sunday. Troopers say the accident occurred on Kenai Beach, south of the mouth of the Kenai River. Medics from Central Peninsula Hospital, the Bureau of Highway Patrol, and troopers responded to the scene. Troopers say that Alaska Wildlife Trooper Tim Abbott was on patrol, traveling south on the Kenai Beach with an ATV. Trooper Abbot’s ATV struck a set net rope that was pulled taught by the tide. The ATV rolled multiple times causing Abbott to be thrown from the ATV. Abbott was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Several people came to his aide until medics and troopers arrived. Abbott was transported by ambulance to Central Peninsula Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The ATV sustained damage but was driven from the beach.
Get well soon Trooper Abbott!
