Woman Found Dead on Kenai River

Alaska State Trooper spokesperson Megan Peters says the woman found dead in the water on the Kenai River is 78-year-old Jean Romig. Troopers say that she was found close to where she lived. Peters said she had known health issues and troopers do not suspect foul play.

She was found face down in the water on the shoreline of the Kenai River, last Friday. The Soldotna office for Alaska State Troopers received a 911 call from a boater who had spotted Romig. The Alaska State Troopers and Cooper Landing EMS responded to the scene where Romig was pronounced deceased. Next of kin was notified.
