Wind Turbines Scheduled for Soldotna Council

3/10/2010

The Soldotna City Council is meeting in regular session, tonight.  One of tonight’s public hearings involves a proposed ordinance that would amend Soldotna’s zoning code to establish a permitting process for small wind turbines in Soldotna.  General standards being proposed in the ordinance would require the system to be 20 feet from any property boundary.  It would require wind turbines to be on lots in excess of 20,000 square feet.  It would only allow one wind turbine per lot.  The ordinance also addresses noise, the location on a lot, the height of a turbine, the minimum blade clearance and the maintenance of a wind turbine.  Tonight’s meeting of the Soldotna City Council is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Soldotna City Hall.
