Parents and community members of Soldotna area schools were recently surveyed about their thoughts on the future of the local schools. The district is collecting opinions about issues such as Sterling Elementary school going to kindergarten to 8th grade, Soldotna Middle School going to 6th ,7th and ,8th, as well as, the future make up of the two Soldotna area high schools in the wake of declining enrollment. We asked Pegge Erkeneff with the Kenai Peninsula Borough School district what the next step is as the district is compiling the data..
Erkeneff: “We’ll have the information that the community members presented and put in their surveys and then school board and all the administrators will look at that, the 10 administrators from those schools that are participating in that. I think it’s important to say it wasn’t a vote per say, this is just gathering information and there a lot more that will come forward and potential other surveys as we really analyze and look at what are the best ways to serve our students and students moving forward.”
