Spring craft fair at the Nikiski Community Center, on April 19th from 10am-4pm, vendor space is available. Spring break day camp for kids 1st-6th grade at the Nikiski Community Rec Center from March 11th through 13th. $5.00 per day.

Small Schools Peninsula Conference Tournament
March 5-8th, 2014
The Small School Peninsula Basketball Conference Tournament, formally known as Regionals is being held this year at Skyview Gym. We will have 16 teams playing. 9 boys and 7 girls. They include, Birchwood Christian, CIA, Kodiak, Lumen Christi, Nanwalek, Nikolaevsk, Ninilchik, Seldovia and Wasilla Lake. We will play 26 games in 4 days. The top two will move on to the state championships. This is a highly competitive group and there will be some great basketball to watch.
100th Anniversary Alaska Native Brotherhood Traveling Exhibit

Alaska Christian College is pleased to announce that it will host the One Hundred Year Celebration of the Alaska Native Brotherhood and Alaska Native Sisterhood Traveling Exhibition between February 26—March 8, 2014. The Exhibit may be viewed on campus in the Learning Resource Center (LRC) between the hours of 8:30am – 5:00pm. A reception for the public will be held on Thursday, February 27 at 7:00pm at the LRC with special guest Harriet Beleal, former president of the Alaska Native Brotherhood. This exhibition was created by the Sitka Historical Society and Museum in collaboration with the Alaska Native Brotherhood and Alaska Native Sisterhood camps of Sitka, the oldest indigenous civil rights organizations in the nation. With its a myriad of historic images, brief bios, quotes, and text, the exhibit provides an overview of the ANS’ and ANB’s rich history, the challenges they faced and overcame, and their tremendous contributions to champion the rights and improve the general well-being and lives of Native peoples.

On March 8 at 1pm the Totem Tracers Genealogical Society will be holding a program here at the library titled Your Family Tree: Getting Started. Have you always wanted to learn more about your own family tree, but weren’t sure where to start? Join us for a demonstration of how to use Ancestry.com and how to create a pedigree chart and a family group record. Participants will be partnered with a Totem Tracers mentor to help guide them through the process.
