Walk-off Single Pushes Oilers Past Chinooks 3-2

A bottom of the ninth inning, bases-loaded, walk-off single by Adam Sonabend pushed the Peninsula Oilers past the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks 3-2 in Alaska Baseball League action on Tuesday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.  The Oilers open a four game home stand with the Chinooks with a victory.


The Oilers lead 1-0 entering the eighth inning, scoring a single run in the third.  The Chinooks took the lead in the top of the eighth with a two-run home run.


In the bottom of the ninth with two outs and the game on the line, following a base hit by Tim Proudfoot, a walk to Taylor Tempel and a single by Andre Mercurio; Mike Wieland walked to score a run and tie the game and Adam Sonabend singled for the game winner.  Final score 3-2 Oilers.
