Viral Video Leading to Investigation of a Kodiak Trooper

Posted: May 2, 2013 at 6:25 am

The arrest of a woman by the Alaska State Troopers in Kodiak is under investigation by the State Office of Professional Standards.

A video of the arrest, taken by a teenager, was posted to YouTube under the title, “Young Woman Arrested for Nothing.”

Troopers and medics responded Monday night to the Kodiak home on the report of an apparent pill overdose.

The video shows 20-year-old Skyler Irene Waite arguing with the trooper about some marijuana that was found in the home. As the trooper is leaving, Waite reaches up and the Trooper knocks her to the floor and handcuffs her.

Trooper Colonel Keith Mallard found out about the incident when the video was sent to the Trooper’s official Facebook account. He says that led to an immediate investigation, which is typical for complaints against officers.

Troopers say that Waite was arrested on the charges of  4th degree Assault  on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct.

Alaska State Troopers are totally out of control!!! The Troopers involved in this video should be fired.

There is no professionalism amonst most of the Alaska State Troopers. They are out to ID you and arrest you and you to their bucket list!!

We need the Feds to come in here and straighten this State out.

Email the Kodiak police department and tell them how disgusted you are by this policeman’s obvious ABUSE of power.

  • Really?!?!? says:

Why would you want to contact the KODIAK POLICE about an issue with the ALASKA STATE TROOPERS??????

That’s being upset about the crappy products at Walmart and calling Fred Meyer’s cooperate offices.
