Another wreck which required extrication this morning has emergency responders asking drivers to be more cautious.

Brad Nelson with Central Emergency Services said they aided Cooper Landing Medics responded just before 5 am this morning.

Nelson: “The exact same spot that we were at on the 16th for a motor vehicle collision, there was a patient that was trapped inside the car and needed to be extricated. We responded with our ambulance and our rescue truck, crews got on scene and were able to get the person out of their car. There were serious medical issues with the person so they got the LifeMed helicopter and transported the patient to Anchorage.”

He reminded drivers to be aware of changing road conditions.

Nelson: “And it’s typical this time of year but especially this year, with the weird weather that we’ve had this year, you’ll go through long stints of dry roads but any time there’s shade or fluctuating temperatures you can still have ice, extremely slick ice on these roads. And it’s not just in the early morning and late hours that we’re used to typically with the ice, it can be all throughout the day.”

Temperatures are forecast to fluctuate between the low thirties and high forties throughout the weekend.
