Two Local Women Arrested on Separate Drug and Alcohol Charges

Over the weekend, State Troopers arrested two local women for separate drug and alcohol offenses.

The first occurred on Friday, at approximately 2:40am, when Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a gray Volkswagen Jetta at the intersection of Riverside Drive and the Sterling Highway. Troopers contacted the driver, Christine Simmons, aged 30 of Soldotna, and conducted a DUI investigation.  Simmons was subsequently arrested for DUI and her vehicle was seized pending an application for a search warrant for the presence of controlled substances.

Then, on Sunday around 9:15pm,  Soldotna Troopers received a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) report for a red Jeep Cherokee near mile 100 of the Sterling Highway. The Jeep was reportedly traveling north towards Soldotna at varying speeds, slowing to 25mph in a 55mph zone, and swerving across the road.

Troopers contacted the driver, Lydia Reynolds, aged 26 of Homer, and conducted a DUI investigation. Reynolds was arrested for DUI and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the First Degree. Her vehicle was similarly seized pending an application for a search warrant for the presence of controlled substances.
