Jonrowe Races To Victory In Tustumena 200 Sled Dog Race

Dee Dee Jonrowe posted the fastest time to the first checkpoint and never looked back, recording an impressive victory in the 2011 Tustumena 200 Sled Dog Race.  Jonrowe crossed the finish line in Kasilof in a time of 19 hours 7 minutes of running time (27 hours, 7 minutes w/ layover) capturing her first T-200 victory.  Jonrowe recorded the fastest time to the first checkpoint at Oil Well road and posted the fastest running time to the halfway point at the Clam Shell Lodge on Saturday night.

 

Cym Smith, of Big Lake, finished second; closing the distance on Jonrowe in the final leg of the race. Smith crossed at 2:43 Sunday afternoon, just 10 minutes behind Jonrowe.  Smith recorded the fastest final leg, covering the Oil Well to Finish leg in 2:09.  Smith trailed Jonroe at the halfway point by 30 minutes.

 

In 2010, Cym Smith finished second to race winner Jeff King with Dee Dee Jonrowe placing third.

 

T-100 Results

Paul Gebhardt raced to a victory in the T-100 event, completing the course in 9 hours, 53 minutes.

 

JR T Results

The Jr T was nearly a photo finish with Conway Seavey crossing the finish line in 3 hours, 56:25.  Alea Robinson finished just five seconds back at 3 hours, 56:30.

 

Racers will continue to finish throughout the afternoon and evening at the finish line at Mile 112 Sterling Highway in Kasilof.
