Gary Turner, Director of the Kenai Peninsula College made a presentation yesterday to the Kenai Chamber of Commerce. During the presentation to the local business community, Turner commented on the state of the local college…
Turner: “It’s all about construction, we’re building the career and technical education center and student housing. They’re both on time and on budget, both should be opening in early August, that’s the exciting part.”
Turner also commented on some encouraging enrollment statistics
Turner: “We continue to grow, this year we plateaued, I’ve been predicting that for a couple of years, and this year we have. That’s a good thing, it was on purpose, we’ve reached the point where we’re pretty much out of space and out of facility and staff. So we’re doing well, over the past five-years, we’ve increased the in the number of students by 50%, and the number of credits those students are taking has increased 47%. We’ve had a great run, and we’re in a place where we’re comfortable.”
The grand opening for student housing, and career and technical center will be August 15th.
