Troopers Plan Second Academy

State Troopers are now taking enrollments for their second Kenai Peninsula Citizen’s Academy, scheduled to begin January 7.

The group will meet every Tuesday for 12 weeks from 6-9pm at the Kenai Challenger Center.

Local Trooper Captain Andy Greenstreet said he got his start in law enforcement through a similar program when he was a student…

Capt. Greenstreet: “It’s community outreach, it’s to let people know more about their Alaska State Troopers, and what it is that we do, and why we do it the way we do. It’s a program for better understanding.”

Troopers discuss topics like: canine operations, search and rescue, and personal safety, in a mixture of classroom and practical settings.

A copy of the application is posted on the AST website.
