Troopers Investigating Vehicle Break In near McHugh Creek

Sunday evening, just before 3:30pm the Alaska State Troopers received the report of a smashed vehicle window and theft from a vehicle while it was parked at the McHugh Creek parking lot near mile post 112.0 of the Seward Highway.

Subsequent investigation revealed that 28-year-old Bristol Whitmore of Kenai, parked her 2006 Toyota Matrix in the parking lot and went for a hike.

When Whitmore returned she found a broken window on her car and several items missing from inside the vehicle. The damage to the vehicle was estimated at $600.00 and the value of the stolen items was approximately $2230.00.

Additionally Whitmore had a credit card stolen and the credit card was used. Investigation is on-going. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Alaska State Troopers at 783-0972.
