A full schedule of high school sports for the first weekend of November features the ASAA State Swimming and Diving Championships, the Northern Lights and South Central Conference Volleyball Tournaments, the Peninsula Ice Challenge hockey tournament and the Homer Rumble Wrestling Tournament.
ASAA State Swimming and Diving Championships
The 2011 ASAA State Swimming and Diving Championships begin preliminaries on Friday, November 4th and continue with the finals on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the Bartlett Pool.

Volleyball: Northern Lights Conference
The Northern Lights Conference Volleyball Tournament opened play on Thursday at Colony High School. All four peninsula teams, representing the Southern Division, suffered first-round losses to teams from the North.
The Soldotna Stars, #2 from South, fell in the first game in three-straight to the Wasilla Warriors. Kenai followed and was swept in three by the top-seed Palmer Moose. The Homer Mariners managed a single win in a 3-1 dismantling by the Kodiak Bears; and the top seed from the South Skyview fell to the host Colony Knights 3-1.
All four North Division teams advance to the winners-bracket semifinal; all peninsula teams continue play in the consolation rounds. Tournament action continues Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Volleyball: South Central Conference
The South Central Conference Volleyball Tournament opens play on Friday at Nikiski High School.
Hockey: Peninsula Ice Challenge
The 2011 Peninsula Ice Challenge dropped the puck on Thursday night at the Soldotna Sports Center; a pair of wins for the local teams on home ice.
The Soldotna Stars defeated Eagle River 3-0 with Jonas Perletti recording a pair of goals and Nick Wrobel added a goal. Goalie Cody Harvey recorded a shutout with 21 saves.
The Kenai Kardinals opened with a win over North Pole 3-1. Zach Zulkanycz recorded a three-goal, hat trick for the Kards and Keegan Remsen allowed only a single goal in net.
Kenai plays Eagle River tonight at 6:30 and the Stars face the Patriots at 8:45 p.m. at the Soldotna Sports Center.

Wrestling: Homer Rumble
The Homer Rumble wrestling tournament will be contested Friday and Saturday at Homer High School.
