We spoke to one concerned Nikiski resident, Steve Chamberlain, who’s largest concern is over the potential for water contamination with this site being adjacent to the already contaminated Arness Septage site..

Other’s in the Nikiski area have voiced their concerns over the proximity to residences in the Nikiski area, and have largely said that they did not want the monofill in their area.
The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation is still taking public comment on AIMM’s permit application though 5 o’clock tonight.
