Three Arrested After Snowmachine Accident

State troopers say alcohol was involved in Saturday’s snowmachine accident near the Moose River Bridge on the Sterling Highway. According to the trooper’s investigation, a 1998 Ski-Doo summit, driven by 46-year-old Kenneth Sheppard of Sterling, struck a 2004 Ski-Doo Summit, driven by 45-year-old William White of Sterling. The collision injured 28-year-old Flora Thiele of Kenai. She was taken to Central Peninsula Hospital for evaluation. As a result of their investigation, troopers arrested Sheppard for Felony DUI, Assault 3rd degree, and Fail to Give Immediate Notice of an Accident. Two other people, identified as 44-year-old Donna Pederson of Sterling and 55-year-old John Vancleef of Sterling were arrested for Hindering Prosecution. Sheppard, Pederson, and Vancleef were transported to Wildwood Pretrial Facility and held without bail.
