The Latest on the Pennsylvania Craigslist Killer

Over the weekend, multiple agencies have joined forces to investigate claims by 19-year-old Miranda Barbour that she has killed over 22 people across the country, starting in Alaska.

Barbour is in custody and faces the death penalty, along with her husband, for allegedly luring 42-year-old Troy LaFerrara through a Craigslist ad and then strangling and stabbing him just for the thrill of it.

Her chilling jailhouse confessions of killing over 22 people throughout the country have raised questions. Former FBI special agent and ABC News Consultant Brad Garrett said it could just be a ploy for attention.

Garrett: “Can she actually articulate names, places, locations? Short of that, this is just a lot of bragging.”

When Barbour first admitted to the killings to reporter Francis Scarcella with The Daily Item newspaper, he said it did not seem rehearsed.

Scarcella: “She was very meek, she was very mild, she was very soft spoken, and she was very matter of fact.”

According to the jailhouse recording of the interview, Barbour said she joined a satanic cult in Alaska and has since killed in Texas, North Carolina, and California.

As of this morning in a press release by the Alaska State Troopers, there are no credible leads for any homicides involving Barbour in Alaska. They are communicating with authorities in Pennsylvania.
