Soldotna Woman Arrested for DUI, Texting, Assault

Early yesterday morning a Soldotna woman was arrested for DUI, texting while driving, and Assault III after driving into a construction trailer.

The trailer was attached to a 2006 Ford F450 work truck, parked in the outside southbound lane of the Kenai Spur Highway around Mile 2. It had a lighted sign on it, indicating vehicles should move to the inside lane, to avoid construction workers in the area.

29-year-old Kara Kellerby was driving along the highway just before 3am in a 2006 Jeep Commander when she struck the rear of the Ford, causing severe damage to the sign.

The driver of the Ford F450 was identified as Angela O’Brien, who was a construction worker.  O’Brien was transported to Central Peninsula Hospital by Central Emergency Services for minor injuries.

Kellerby was found to have been texting while driving and impaired by alcohol.  She was arrested and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial Facility without bail.
