A felon with $22,000 worth of drugs was found in a stolen vehicle behind the Borough building late last week.
39-year-old Rodney G. Godwin of Anchorage was found around 7:25am on Thursday, slumped over the wheel of a Ford F350 on Binkley St in Soldotna. When Soldotna Police approached, the engine was still running.
The truck, worth $44,000, had been reported stolen from a Wasilla business, Alaska Sales and Service.
During the investigation, officers found that Godwin had previously been arrested for felony DUI. He was still on probation and had a revoked driver’s licence.
In the truck, Godwin had a loaded .45 caliber pistol, 59 grams of methamphetamine, 23 grams of marijuana, 5 grams of heroin, 2 grams of cocaine, about $5,000 in cash and drug paraphernalia. The street value of the drugs is estimated at $22,000.
Godwin was arrested for a dozen charges, including: felony driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving while license revoked, theft in the first degree, two counts of misconduct involving a weapon in the second degree, misconduct involving weapons in the third and fourth degrees, two counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the second degree and misconduct involving a controlled substance in the third, fourth and fifth degrees. He was taken to Wildwood and held without bail.
SPD says the case is still under investigation.
