Statewide Transportation Improvement Program Open For Public Comment

Amendments to the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) are now open for public review and comment. We spoke to DOT’s David Post…

Post: “It’s probably more on an individualized basis. If you have a specific project that you have an interest in, it’s appropriate to go ahead and look at the STIP and look on our website, and see that that project is moving forward.  If not, there may be a variety of reasons for it, but it’s mostly informational for folks based on a project-by-project basis, based upon where their interests are.”

Post explained how the projects are financed…

Post: “Most of our funding for projects that are in the STIP is actually federal funding. So we don’t have that much that we rely upon for state funding. And, of course, state funding is really dependent upon the Legislature, not the Department and not this document.”

The public comment period opened yesterday and will run until April 5 at 5pm. You can view the amendments to the STIP here.
