State Troopers Use Armored Vehicle During Standoff in Homer

Last night, just after 7:06pm, the Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers responded to a reported disturbance call with shots fired on Char Court in Homer.

Upon arrival, Troopers were challenged by an intoxicated male individual who yelled at Troopers and made reference to a .44 caliber handgun.

As Troopers were establishing a perimeter the individual fired several shots from a .44 caliber handgun.

Members of the Southern SERT (Special Emergency Reaction Team) and crisis negotiators responded from Soldotna with the BearCat armored tactical response vehicle.

Members of SERT were able to use the BearCat to safely approach and contact the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Timothy Magee of Homer.

Mr. Magee surrendered without further incident.

He was arrested and remanded to the Homer Jail on two-charges of 3rd degree assault and misconduct involving weapons in the 4th degree, for possessing a firearm while intoxicated.
