Members of the Senate Majority continue to push for state funding for free and reduce price breakfasts and lunches. Last week, Senate Bill 3 was heard in front of the Senate Education Committee. He said this bill would cost the state money in the short term, but according to Wielechowski it would benefit the state in the long term. A staff member from his office told the committee that this would improve school performance and reduce obesity among children. The bill has been endorsed by most of the school districts across the state, including the Kenai Peninsula School District.
