State House Taking on Senate Passed Oil Taxes

The State House is taking on the senate passed, SB21, Governor Sean Parnell’s proposal to change the state’s oil tax policy. Parnell said that, as the state house takes on the bill, he will continue to weigh any changes against his four guiding principles…

Gov. Parnell: “One, that any change must be fair to Alaskans; two, it must encourage new production; three, it’s got to be simple, so it restores balance to the system; and four, it must be competitive and durable. You know, we have made remarkable progress this session. But we will not stop until we have achieved our goal. We will create a tax climate for more oil production that benefits all Alaskans. Now is the time to buckle down and keep our focus on improving Alaska for generations to come. The sooner we act, the sooner Alaskans see new oil flowing through the pipeline.”
