The ASAA State Basketball Championships, March Madness Alaska, crowned champions Wednesday, with the CIA girls finishing second in the 2A girls championship.
The 3A and 4A divisions begin on March 15th. All tournament games will be played at the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage. The Seward girls qualify in the 3A division. The SoHi girls and Kenai boys qualify in the 4A division.

2A Girls Championship Game: Cook Inlet Academy Girls 45 – Tikigaq 47
The Cook Inlet Academy girls battled the Tikigaq Harpoonerettes to the final buzzer with Tikigaq holding-on for a 47-45, come-from-behind victory. CIA held a 14-3 lead after one quarter and a 26-17 lead at the half. The Eagles lead by seven with 3:00 remaining in the game. Tikigaq hit a three-pointer with :50 remaining for a 46-45 lead. The Eagles last-second shot was off the mark and Tikigaq claimed its third 2A state title. The Cook Inlet girls runner-up finish is the best in school history for the girls’ program.

Cook Inlet Boys 33 - Hooper Bay 45 CIA eliminated w/ second loss
Nikolaevsk Girls fall 43-21 to Tikiqaq. Nikolaevsk will play in 3rd Place Game Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m.
Cook Inlet Academy Girls 51 - Klawock 45 CIA girls will play in the 2A Girls Championship Game Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. at the Sullivan Arena

The Soldotna Lady Stars qualify to the 4A state championships with a runner-up finish in the Northern Lights Conference tournament. The Kardinal boys receive one-of-two, at-large berths to the 4A tournament.
For a first time in 2012, two at-large berths were available in the 4A division. Automatic qualifiers include:
