The brackets for the 2010 ASAA State Basketball Championships have been released.

The state championships have changed their traditional format for 2010.  The 3A and 4A state tournament games will begin on Monday, March 15 with the tournament running through the championship games on Wednesday, March 17th.  The 1A and 2A state tournament games will begin on Thursday, March 18 with the tournament running through the championship games on Saturday, March 20th.

The Soldotna Star boys open tournament play on Monday, March 15th with a first-round game against Anchorage’s Dimond High School.  The game is set for 3:15 p.m.  The Dimond Lynx are ranked #3 on the WPI and the Stars are ranked #6.

4A Boys Tournament Bracket

The Cook Inlet Academy Eagle girls and boys teams begin play in the 2A State Tournament on Thursday, March 18th at the Sullivan Arena.  The Eagle girls open against Pt. Hope at 1:15 p.m.  The CIA boys first-round opponent is Noatak in the tournament’s last game of the first day at 9:45 p.m.  The Ninilchik Wolverine girls face Noorvik at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.  The Wolverine boys first-round opponent is Pt Hope, with the game set for 3:15 p.m.

Teams in the boys and girls 4A classification are seeded into the state tournament brackets based on the Winning Percentage Index.  1A, 2A, and 3A brackets are seeded based on conference tournament results.
