Star Girls & Kardinal Boys Race To Homer Invitational Track Team Titles

The Homer Invitational Track and Field Meet featured outstanding individual performances, new state-best performances and team victories for the Stars and Kards.

 

The Soldotna girls track team scored 111 points; in-route-to the girls team title.  The Kenai boys scored 128 points for the boys title.

 

On the girls side, the Stars strength proved to be depth and sprint speed.  SoHi recorded a first place in the discus by Makayla Wong with a new state best throw of 109′ 8″ and a victory in the 4X400M relay.  SoHi recorded seven second or third place finishes.

The Kenai girls were lead by a three event sweep by junior Allie Ostrander.  Allie won the 800M, 1600M and 3200M with a new state best 4:55.32 in the 1600M.  Kenai’s Kiana Harding won the girls high jump.

Skyview girls won both the 4X100M Relay and the 4X200M Relay; Hayley Ramsell won the girls triple jump.

 

The Kardinal Boys, on the strength of the Theisen brothers, won the team title with 128 points.

Jonah Theisen swept the distance events with victories in the 800M, 1600M, and 3200M runs.  Jordan Theisen finished second in the 1600M and 3200M.  Kenai’s Josh Jackman wqon the 200M and Kenai’s Mason Lloyd won the shot put.

The Panthers Tim Duke set a new state best of 41′ 4 1/2″ in the triple jump; and Skywiew won the 4X800M Relay.  Nikiski’s Seth Carstens won the long jump and high jump events.
