Sports Center Celebrate 30 Years with Free Entry

The Soldotna Parks and Rec Master Plan is now available for public comment. Parks and Rec Director Andrew Carmichael shared details of the opening event tonight…

 

Carmichael: “Well tonight we have an open house for the Soldotna Parks and Recreation Master Plan. We have a Steering Committe together, they’ll be present, as well as will the consultants to try to just generate interest, input, futuristic thinking from the community members to give input where they would like to see the Parks and Rec operatiosn go, where they would like them to stay, where they’d like to head, any facility they may have in the back of their dream factories.”

 

The Parks and Rec Department will also be celebrating this weekend as the Sports Center turns 30.

 

Carmichael: “The skating is from one to three. The roundup with the booth from the Jumping Junction, the tribe will be here doing bicycle BMX ramp demonstrations. Sportsman’s Warehouse is gonna’ have an archery booth set up, so noon to four is the overall roundup with the free public skate going from one to three. And then later in the afternoon we’ve got High School hockey games with Kenai/SoHi and then that night we’ve got the Brown Bears, so it’ll be busy from start to finish this Saturday.”

 

KSRM will be broadcasting live from the Sports Center on Saturday.
