Tonight there is a work session scheduled to discuss a Special Assessment District for North Aspen St. in Soldotna where the public can learn a little more about the project and express their concerns.
We spoke with Director of Economic Development and Planning for the City of Soldotna Stephanie Queen for more.
Queen: “This is going to be a follow-up work session to some of the earlier open houses we had to talk about a potential road improvement project on North Aspen. There’s not a clear agenda its just an additional opportunity for the public to get together with the city council members and the staff to ask questions and provide comments. They won’t be making any decisions on Aspen Street today, its just an additional informal get together to hear some of the additional project concerns and comments ahead of the actual scheduled public hearing.”
Queen also said that during tonight’s Soldotna City Council meeting, the council will potentially be making a decision on a different Special Assessment District for Lord Barinoff Street in Soldotna.
Queen: “Tonight is the actual public hearing for the Lord Barinoff SAD project so the City Council could be making a decision on that project tonight. We’ve received some written comments about the project already some folks have submitted some objections and written comments, there’s also the opportunity for testimony at the meeting itself and then the City Council will have the opportunity to either approve the district, amend it or deny it, it could also be postponed, so any of those actions are possible tonight on Lord Barinoff.”
The meeting for the North Aspen Street work session will be held at 4:30 at City Hall in Soldotna followed by the Soldotna City Council meeting beginning at 7:00 pm.
