SPD Arrest One for Theft of a Boat

Friday May 31st, at 4:00 p.m., officers with the Soldotna Police Department received a report about the theft of a 22-foot boat, outboard motor and trailer, valued at $5000, from a residence in Soldotna.

Sgt. Duane Kant with the SPD told us that Saturday June 1st, at about 1:00 a.m., the boat, motor and trailer were recovered at a residence on Thomas Street in Sterling, about 8:15 a.m., Soldotna police stopped a vehicle near Mile-92 Sterling Highway that contained the suspect in the theft.

49-year-old Steven C. Sumner, of Sterling was arrested for vehicle theft in the first degree, theft in the second degree and tampering with physical evidence, taken to Wildwood and held without bail.
