Wednesday’s meeting of the Soldotna City Council resulted in some concerns regarding the Soldotna Sports Center Master Plan, however a name was decided on by the council.
The Soldotna Regional Sports Complex was proposed and agreed upon by the council after City Manager Mark Dixon explained adding “regional” to the name invites the public outside of Soldotna and could assist the city in securing funding for the complex.
As far as funding goes the council has decided to postpone talks about how much the city will pay for the new complex.
Soldotna Mayor Nels Anderson commented.
Mayor Anderson: “There were some concerns that what we proposed was perhaps more than we could afford, and that’s something the council will have to decide and if they do they may consider changing some of the plans that were put in for the sports center itself”.
Mayor Anderson said the council has plans to finally sit down and discuss these issues.
Mayor Anderson: “The City Council is going to meet next Wednesday at 5:00 pm to sort of go through and see what the council wants because the council, since this has been presented and since we’ve got the money, hasn’t been able to sit down and even have a discussion about it so that’s basically what that is. I don’t know if we’re going to come up with a plan that everyone will be happy with or if we will even agree on one I don’t know we’ll see”.
