Construction crews have been working at the corner of Binkley St. and Corral St. in the City of Soldotna renovating and expanding the Joyce K. Carver library, construction on the building began in May of 2012. We spoke to Soldotna City Engineer Kyle Kornelis…

Kornelis: “Things are going well, we’re doing a lot of interior finish work, and folks can see that we’re working on the exterior siding as well. [We] still have some site work to do, but things are really coming together.”

Kornelis said that this ongoing project is largely on schedule…

Kornelis: “We had a few delays with different trades, and coordinating with the existing building and an expansion, so obviously there’s little things to deal with when you marry up the two-buildings. We’re probably looking for at an October opening, we don’t have a date set, we’re still  kind of  trying to find out when that would be.”

Operations of the Soldotna Library have been run out of the Peninsula Center Mall as the multi-million dollar project has been underway.
