Soldotna Filing Period Open Tomorrow

The preparation for upcoming municipal elections are continuing across the Central Kenai Peninsula. We spoke to Soldotna City Clerk Shelie Saner about the elections in Soldotna.

Saner: “This coming election, we have Seat B for a one-year term to expire in October 2014, and we have both Seats D and E, for a three-year terms to expire in 2016″

Council member Nancy Eoff, who holds Seat E, announced at the end of last Wednesday nights’ meeting that she will not be seeking another term on the council

Cm. Eoff: “I will be doing some traveling, so I just will be gone, it wouldn’t be very fair to the city.”

We also asked Clerk Saner about the requirements to run for the Soldotna City Council

Saner: “The candidate filing period begins on August 1st and ends at 4:30pm on August 15th. Candidate packets are available at the City Clerk’s office beginning July 30th. To be eligible to run for the city office, you must be a quailed voter who has resided within the Soldotna city limits at least one-year prior to the election.”
