Last night, the Soldotna City Council agreed to purchase ten acres of Kenai Peninsula Borough land on West Redoubt Avenue for the development of a cemetery in the community.
Mayor Peter Micciche said the only amendments made to Soldotna’s ordinance for the purchase involved the purchase price, and acceptance of a deed restriction on the ten acres.

He said this ten acres from the Kenai Peninsula Borough will provide the adequate buffer between the cemetery and the existing neighborhoods. The mayor feels the original concerns by some residents about placing a cemetery at this location in Soldotna are starting to evaporate.
