Changes have been made to the zoning of Soldotna. Last night, the Soldotna City Council approved a change in the municipal zoning code that will drastically reduce the possibility for residential structures to be placed along the Sterling Highway or the Kenai Spur in Soldotna. Now, the code more clearly defines what can, and cannot be, allowed within this Limited Commercial District. Soldotna Mayor Peter Micciche said this ordinance was generated by complaints from the public regarding the construction of condominiums.

Micciche said it finally gives the city the tools to say no to projects that are just the wrong projects in the wrong place. Micciche said there has been a large amount of community support with this ordinance, which he called the right fix.
