Many residents of the Kenai Peninsula are looking ahead of tomorrow’s Thanksgiving holiday to the annual “Black Friday” shopping event. We spoke to Michelle Glaves, Executive Director of the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce about the benefits of shopping locally.
Glaves: “I know it’s easy to shop online, and a lot of people think they need to go to the city and spend some money and do holiday shopping, but its vitally important when people think about who sponsors the sports teams at the schools and at the Boy and Girls club. The businesses that give back to all of the non-profits and charities, the food bank and all of that, they are from the community. Those businesses, whether you are buying a car or buying a book, those businesses give back to those non-profits and everybody reaps the benefits of that.”
